VK says fire disrupts operations, power supply already restored
MOSCOW, Nov 5 (PRIME) -- A fire at a partner data center triggered problems in functioning of large Russian social network VKontakte, and repair works are well under way, official community Team VKontakte said on Tuesday in a statement.
“Several hours ago our partner data center had a fire outbreak, which caused serious troubles with power supply. A critical part of the servers, which ensure work of VKontakte’s main products, like the messenger and the news feed, were affected,” the statement read.
The social network’s specialists had to go to the data center for help, and power supply has already been resumed with repair works still in progress.
“Now most of the servers function steadily. We are analyzing the course and the reasons of this pitfall and are mending the remaining consequences,” VKontakte said.
Earlier the social network’s users from several Russian cities complained of malfunctions with website loading and delivery of messages.
